Cavalry Boys Play for National Championship on Monday in Denver (article posted on our website)     Cavalry 2007 Black, a local boys soccer team, has made history by being the first team from the Brazos Valley to earn their way to the USC (United Soccer Clubs) National Cup Championship game in Denver, Colorado. The Cavalry 2007 Black team consists of 16 and 17 year old boys who all attend local high schools (A&M Consolidated, Brazos Christian, Cameron, College Station HS, Madisonville, Rudder, Navasota, and home schooled).       After first winning the Regional Tournament in late 2023, the team, which is coached by Chris Stephenson, advanced to the National Championships in Denver. At the National Cup, the boys played three games in the group stage earlier this week. They tied the first game 1-1 (goal by Luis Villanueva), the second game was won 5-0 (goals by Joseph Perez, Giovanni Perez, David Velasquez, Anthony Peacher (2)), and the third game was won 3-1 (goals by Enrique Tirado-Lopez, David Velasquez, and Giovanni Perez). This winning record led the team to the semi-final round, where they played a very strong and athletic team from North Carolina. The game ended in extra time with a 2-1 win for Cavalry (goals by Giovanni Perez and Santiago Rueda).     Along with the very talented goal scorers, Cavalry’s success can also be attributed to the two skilled goalkeepers: Samuel Seabolt and James Erdner. Together, the boys only allowed 3 goals in 4 games, along with having countless saves. Working alongside the keepers to maintain low numbers of goals scored against is a lockdown defense composed of Anthony Findley, Mason Green, Santiago Rueda, and Luis Villanueva. ⚽️Cavaly Youth Soccer 2013 Red team volunteered this past week by making goodie baskets for 1st responders. The team delivered to University Police department and Fire station #4 in Bryan. 🙌In return, they gave the team a tour of the police car and fire truck. Nearly 35% of CSISD's population qualifies for Free or Reduced Lunch. This means 5,710 students may not have access to items needed to arrive at school clean, warm, and ready to learn. Currently, 101 of our students are considered homeless. Our goal is to help students and their families to feel positively about themselves, CSISD, and attending school. Chrissy's Closet is a part of the CSISD Education Foundation which is a non-profit, tax-exempt 501 (c) (3) public corporation. Tax-deductible gifts made to the foundation provide funds for opportunities above and beyond the normal operating budget of the school district which are not available through tax revenues. Chrissy's Closet opened on October 3, 2016. 📢 Improve your skills at the next skill builder clinic! ⚽️Cavalry will be hosting a 3-day training clinic over Spring break. The clinic will focus on individual technical abilities like first touch, speed of play, decision-making, passing dribbling, and shooting. It is the right setup for players to work on these crucial components in a smaller, more personal environment with individual instruction and time on the ball. ⚽️The clinic allows players to come in and try new things without fearing failure in a very positive learning environment. All activities are based around Futsal style 5v5 soccer, with objective specific training stations and exciting small-sided games where all players are constantly active and part of attacking and defending situations.
